Current obsession .. the distressed Napoleon chair

Posted February 11, 2010 by Christina

Okay so this is my current obsession!! I love these half upholstered chairs with the burlap, strings hanging and the fabric all distressed... I want one or two or three really badly!!

Maybe it is just that I can see the true construction of the piece and see that it must have this amazing history that has been striped away with what I am sure was some kind of dingy ancient fabric... I can only imagine where it has been and what it has seen...

Linda at Lime in the Coconut!

I have always loved the muslin underpieces…I so agree with you!

I recently brought home a chair from a thrift….that I was hoping, praying had the original muslin underneath. No such luck.

So am going through the tedious (read: aggravating) process of reupholstering it. Arrrrgh. (I’ve documented the sadness on my blog)

I have never heard the term ‘Napoleon chair’. Thanks for the enlightenment!

You know what also is a very good thing about those chairs… they are low… and I am not very tall :-) It’s so great to find a chair where your feet reache the ground….

So thats was the practical bit… for the rest I can only say… THEY ARE GORGEOUS (correct me if my spelling isn’t always right…. I do speak English quite well but sometimes my spellng is nogt good :-)

Have a wonderfull day, greetings from the netherlands… Claudia B.
