Bedroom inspiration

Posted August 17, 2010 by Christina

Right now I am working on the lovely Amy's bedroom design...  She gave me these two photos as her inspiration.  Let me tell you this girl knows what she likes.. even thought these pictures are from very different homes they have the same feeling.

I am wondering- can you pinpoint your likes and dislikes?  Do you know what you love?  Can you choose a picture or five and really have them have the same feeling in each one without really realizing it?  Do you know what it is about those inspiration pictures that makes you long for the spaces with in them?  I would love to hear what you think and see what you love.  Do me a favor~ if you want to~ post a picture of your favorite inspirational rooms on our facebook page and tell us all what it is about the room or space that makes it so important to you.. a little designer challenge for all of you!!

P.S. Don't forget today is the last day to enter to win a RAMSIGN piece for your home!

I do know exactly what I like, I can pinpoing it exactly. Now knowing what someone ELSE likes, like you do, that’s a totally different matter. that second bedroom is beyond fabulous! Lidy

My dislike would be the chest at the end of the bed. I have had something similar and in the night, someone always crashed into the hard thing at the end of the bed :)
I much prefer a seat, a bench or nothing but a soft rug as in the first photo.

I can honestly say yes, I can pinpoint my likes and dislikes for the same reason…tear sheets. They’re the reason designing my new kitchen is coming so easily, I know what I like and exactly what I want. Your Amy’s bedroom is going to be fabulous since those pictures she chose are wonderful! I love the second image is that from Meg Ryan’s bedroom? Love the sliding barn type door.

Yes. I always fall for the same thing over and over again. Natural, light, casual, texture. Shows up in burlap, french laundry bedding, pom pom at home ruffles, an over-the-top layered bed you have to crawl into, linen, and white or any natural colored linen or cotton slip-covered furniture. Add varying ruffles and I’m sunk. French ticking pillows, sofas or chairs. My heart stopped a beat when I clicked on a website you feature on the right of your screen – Rough Linen. She has a photo of her burlap-y curtain panels that represents all I love love love. And a photo of a burlap pillow with lavender in it that has a little gathered ruffle on the edge. My style. My love language. Stops me every time. Oh, and you do NOT “talk” to much! And I love your blog. :) Enjoy your trip.

These bedrooms both have a homey, and comfortable feel. I love the carpet in the first one, and the colors in the second one. What about an inspiring window treatment to brighten up a room with such windows as the first room? I came across your post this afternoon while browsing interior design blogs and the topic of window treatment selection was very interesting to me. It is true that you must dress your windows appropriately to bring out their true beauty. Oh, and was that first picture Amy gave you from The Holiday? Boy does it look similar… :) Cameron Diaz’ home wasn’t necessarily my personal style but I loved the cross-pollination of design throughout her home and the clean lines, simple repeated color palette and minimalism. And all those awesome pots that kept popping up in corners throughout her house. It was home-y (enough) but not stuffy or too filled.
