Just a splash please...

Posted September 05, 2010 by Christina

Adding that splash of color makes this room have so much personality where it might otherwise be dull.  I am loving the trend toward pieces that look more like dressers in the dining room for storage too.  So fun!!

LOVE that SPLASH of turquise! YUM! I agree with the dressers…they are useful anywhere! I have an antique black one in my family room!

Gorgeous room and I can’t imagine it ever looking boring. I have a burl wood dresser in my dining room for linens and really dresses things up. Thanks for sharing!

Love this! I am trying to do this exact thing in my home. I have the “otherwise boring” and I need just that splash of color. Great inspiration in this one!

My Goodness that’s a pretty magnificent looking chandelier – almost looks like a Masai waarrior necklace – amazing, and so clever to use such an unexpected zap of colour! Love it! xx

Hi Christina. I recognized this room as soon as I saw it. It was the kitchen nook in this year’s Atlanta Showhouse. It was my favorite room in the house. Just gorgeous. I didn’t see the Atlanta Magazine article, so don’t know if other shots of the room were included. I’ll e-mail you the other photos from the postcard. I’ve been meaning to post about it because the window seat/bench reminds me of one of my favorite blog’s header photo: Decor de Provence and I wanted to share it with Desiree. The armoir on the opposite wall was gorgeous. Love your blog.

Dressers work in any room of the house—even bathrooms—use them even if the drawers stick, backs or drawers are gone, etc., they can serve as a buffet, or extra counter space. Top them with shelves, or an old hutch, and with the right finish they give your room flair (free finds are perfect to play around with-no harm in trying).

Gorgeous room. I feel like I’ve been seeing ottomans everywhere lately in unexpected places- dining tables, kitchen islands. Love the look…. still not sure if its practical though.
