Castle Gibson

I find it simply amazing that places like this exist! I love it! I had no idea that locations for photo shoots and events were available until I entered the blog world. Now I am thinking what a wonderful idea! And the props are amazing.  Please visit their blog and site and see what they are all about.

Well there is proof that we don’t need to paint often if we have brick walls. I love this look too. Industrial but not really.
Have a nice day.

Me too! I was thrilled to find that out — and such amazing options, too, especially in Europe… this place is fantastic :)

I have been contemplating a post about the correct way to white wash brick. I have seen it done perfectly and I’ve seen it done badly. I’m going to have to research this process. I think the beauty in that room, is the natural walls and the elegant worn floors combined. The disparate elements in the decor make a statement that is non statement, which is bold. Thanks for the brain stretch, Liz

Yes – it’s amazing isn’t it! In my ‘previous life’ before moving to the countryside, I was the Bookings Editor for British Elle. My job was to organise fashion shoots including the locations, and I came accross some of THE most inspiring homes and buildings that were for hire – I still often look at these location websites for inspiration with my own decorating – there are lots out there. If you type ‘location agencies’ into google – you’ll be amazed what you can find!xx

Thanks for the mention and everyones kind comments!
That dress was photographed by Mario Testino for Vogue so don’t imagine it will come cheap!
We were lucky enough to find the property around 13 years ago, it’s over 7,000sq/ft and over a hundred years old. After using it as storage for 10 years we dusted it down, cleaned it up a little and opened it as a photographic/filming location.
All the textures on the walls are completely original as is the parquet floor (though we did have to source a few missing pieces!).
I agree the textured walls are very difficult to make look authentic though some set builders for films seem to have cracked it.
Anyway thanks again and come and check out the rest of our spaces!
